Visas based on personal status or position
With a personal status visa (status of residence based on personal status or position) there is no restriction on legitimate work activities.
Such visas include permanent resident, spouse or child of a Japanese national, spouse or child of a permanent resident, long-term resident, etc.

- Holders of this status of residence have been granted permanent residence by the Ministry of Justice.
- ●Spouse or child of a Japanese national visa
- 1. This status of residence may be granted to a foreign national (applicant) who is the spouse (husband or wife) of a Japanese national.
2. This status of residence may be granted to a foreign national (applicant) who is the natural or adopted child of a Japanese national - ●Spouse or child of permanent resident
- This status of residence may be granted to the spouses of foreign nationals staying in Japan with permanent resident or special permanent resident status, and to children born in Japan to permanent residents or special permanent residents who have been living in Japan.
- ●Long-Term Resident
- Persons permitted by the Minister of Justice to reside in Japan, in consideration of special circumstances, for a designated period (e.g., a third-generation Japanese emigrant).
